My name is Danoura K. Durett. I was born and raised in Haiti, a land full of vibrant culture, deep history, and unshakable resilience. Some of my most treasured memories bring me to my grandmother’s Bitasyon, where I would walk barefoot on the grass, feeling the land beneath me. Back then, Haiti felt limitless. A place where laughter echoed through the streets, where families gathered without fear, and where the future seemed as open as the blue skies above.

As I carry those memories with me, Haiti’s true spirit remains deeply rooted in who I am. Being Haitian is more than my identity; it’s my essence, my pride, my duty. No matter where life has taken me, I will never let go of the love I have for my homeland. Though times have changed and challenges feel heavier, I refuse to let go of the Haiti I know—the one of strength, beauty, and endless possibility. Hope is not lost; it lives in us, in the stories we tell, in the culture we preserve, and in the future, we continue to build.
